Current Investment

investments-east-kansas-agri-energy East Kansas Agri-Energy, LLC owns and operates a 35 million gallon nameplate Fagen/ICM ethanol plant located in Garnett, Kansas. Since the start of production in 2005, the company has increased capacity, converting more than 15 million bushels of corn per year into more than 42 million gallons of fuel grade ethanol. The company produces more than 250,000 tons of distiller grains, in both wet and dry form, for livestock producers in nearby counties. Additionally, in May 2009, East Kansas Agri-Energy began producing corn oil, another value-added product, for sale. Clean Energy Capital, LLC was the largest investor of East Kansas Agri-Energy.


investments-adv-bio Advanced BioEnergy, LLC at South Dakota, a wholly owned subsidiary of Advanced BioEnergy, LLC, owns and operates two Fagen/ICM ethanol facilities - one facility located in Aberdeen, South Dakota and another facility located in Huron, South Dakota. The production facilities include a 32 million gallon per year plant that consumes approximately 12 million bushels of corn annually to produce and distribute ethanol and both wet and dry distillers grains in Huron, and two sister production facilities with a combined production capacity of 53 million gallons per year of denatured ethanol, 160,000 tons of wet and dry distillers grains and 8,000,000 pounds of non-food grade corn oil in Aberdeen. Clean Energy Capital, LLC is the second largest investor of Advanced BioEnergy, LLC and has two representatives on the board. President and Chief Executive Officer, Scott Brittenham, serves as the Chairman of the Board.


investments-highwater Highwater Ethanol, LLC owns and operates a 50 million gallon nameplate Fagen/ICM ethanol plant located in Lamberton, Minnesota. Currently, the company operates with production capacity of approximately 58 million gallons. The company also produces both modified wet and dry distillers grain with solubles (DDGS). The company is currently installing corn oil extraction technology and is estimated to start corn oil production in 2014. Additionally, the company has signed a development agreement with Butamax Advanced Biofuels, a joint-venture between British Petroleum and Dupont, to commercialize the production of biobuntanol. Clean Energy Capital, LLC has a representative on the board of directors and is the second largest investor in Highwater Ethanol.


 

Exited Investment

investments-adv-bio Advanced BioEnergy Fairmont, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Advanced BioEnergy, LLC, operates a nameplate Fagen/ICM 100 million dry mill corn ethanol plant that produces more than 320,000 tons of dried distiller’s grains each year and over 18 million pounds of non-food grade corn oil. In December 2012, the Fairmont plant was successfully sold to Flint Hills Resources, LLC, the oil and refining subsidiary of Koch Industries.


investments-egp Ethanol Grain Processors, LLC was formed to develop a 100 million gallon nameplate Fagen/ICM ethanol production facility near Obion, Tennessee. CEC helped raise part of the seed capital to construct the plant. The plant was then purchased by Green Plains Renewable Energy, a publicly-traded ethanol producer based in Omaha, Nebraska in 2008. The consideration paid was stock in Green Plains Renewable Energy, with Clean Energy Capital, LLC selling its shares on the public market in 2010.

Since the start of production in 2007, the plant has expanded its capacity to 65 million gallons. The company produces fuel-grade ethanol, modified wet and dry distillers grain with solubles (DDGS) and crude corn oil for sale. The company is also one of the alpha plants in the industry to use Edeniq’s Cellunator, a yield enhancing grind technology. investments-granite-falls Granite Falls Energy, LLC, owns and operates a 50 million gallon nameplate Fagen/ICM ethanol plant located in Granite Falls, Minnesota. The plant has an approximate annual production capacity of 65 million gallons of fuel grade ethanol with permitted capacity of 70 million gallons. Granite Falls produces fuel-grade ethanol, wet and dry distiller’s grains and crude corn oil for sale. In July 2013, Granite Falls acquired a majority stake in Heron Lake BioEnergy, LLC, a 50 million gallon nameplate Fagen/ICM ethanol plant located in Heron Lake, Minnesota. Clean Energy Capital, LLC is the second largest investor of Granite Falls Energy.
